Matt started running sound/lights for us in the summer of 2015. When he’s not working, he produces music and runs a recording studio/label called Coast Records. He also plays drums in Human Resources and fills in with numerous Charleston groups.

History
The Royal American has served quality food and drink since 2011, as well as consistently dishing up some of the area’s best original live music. Musical acts range from cutting edge local and regional bands to established national acts.
Located in the ‘50’s era building that previously housed the “Ole Charleston Forge” on Charleston’s upper peninsula, owners John Kenney and Karalee Fallert aimed to maintain the building’s unique industrial character as they developed The Royal American. Once known as the premier local source for commercial iron work in Charleston, the bar/restaurant feels worn in and comfortable, and takes a friendly, but no-nonsense approach to everything they do. From a large selection of old school canned beer, to chargrilled hamburgers and baked potatoes, to booming concerts, The Royal American acknowledges and honors its gritty past.
In addition to the main bar area, The Royal American has front, back, and side patios that are available for private and semi-private events ranging from 20 - 320 people.
